Understandably, any depiction of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is inherently violent. But in this piece we see that the very heart of His work, the gift of Atonement, is love. I was very touched by the lack of violence in the original work of late Renaissance artist, Giambologna. After Giambologna, 1573.
